Beware, little rant going on here. D: I'm bracing myself for angry responses I am... I had to post this because this issue is making me more annoyed everytime I see it, and I want to voice my opinion.

Before I begin, let me tell you that this isn't directed at anyone at all, this is just to respond-less comments in general. Now then...

This is how I truly feel, and this is the reason I sometimes don't comment on some artist's pic. If a pic has plenty of comments, but not a single reply, I don't see why I should put in any input if it'll be ingored/tolazytosresponded. And I can't be the only person on dA who feels this way...

One reason respond-less comments annoy me is because there's no good reason for it. Sure, you could be busy, or can't think of any good responses, but that's no excuse. Sometimes, the best response is a simple "Thank you". Even if you don't want to write "Thank you" a million times over, it's a far better way of saying how grateful you are that the person took the time to comment your art.

God knows how I would love to have those comments. A majority of them ARE those one-word comments like "cute" or "amazing" or "cool", but sometimes you get real input, like "I like blah blah blah", or "I think so-and-so looks good, like how you did their eyes", and so on. I think at least those merit a good response.

I know I myself missed comments in the past, either cause I somehow missed it, or the person was banned and wouldn't receive my response. But at least 95 % of all comments I received, I replied to. If I ever became one of those "popular artists" that got over 1000 actual comments a day, I know I'd take the time to answer them all. I'd prevent those stupid "First Comment wars" by letting everyone know I will respond to you either way.

Really. Stop being lazy, stop being stuck-up. Whichever it is, at least come to a "Thank you". Don't complain about a lack of meaningful comments when it's you who's lacking meaningful or at least grateful responses.
